About

When I first started entertaining the notion of a website for For the Journey, I wondered how I could possibly ever put into words what it is to me. It literally started in my parents’ basement when 16- or 17-year-old me felt called to write Sunday School literature one night while praying before going to sleep. Then, it started in a more tangible way after I moved home following college and was led to start living out that calling in a way I hadn’t expected or imagined. It started very small–one order of Sunday School literature for one church for one age group (printed on an inkjet printer in my parents’ basement, no less), and thankfully, it has grown since then. It’s been work–lots and lots of work, but it’s also been the joy of my life and so very rewarding. (And, I have upgraded to a home office and a much faster printer.)

Whether it’s Sunday School lessons, devotionals, or podcast episodes, my goal in all For the Journey Literature is looking at God’s Word with a particular focus on applying it to everyday life. God’s Word is our best guide for navigating the ups and downs we all face on our journeys through this life. His Word challenges and convicts. It comforts and encourages. It speaks to every circumstance we face in this life. As we study God’s living Word, we gain much-needed wisdom for how to live in a broken sin-filled world and do so for God’s glory. So, For the Journey Literature is really just sharing my passion for God’s Word and trying to create tools that help others in their study of the Bible.
